Empty (a poem by Gordon Calvert)

I keep phoning home,
When I know there is no one,
I let it ring three times, and
then hang up in despair
But they are all gone
And when I go home
the house will be
as it can only be
Empty.

  1. This is a really nice poem. What is your connection to Gordon Calvert as this poem must mean a lot to you to post on your own blog.

    Curious.

    • Gordon Calvert was my maternal grandfather. He passed away when I was 16, but he was quite a character. He wrote a lot of poetry through the years and I’ve always enjoyed reading it and transferring the poems to digital form to preserve them. It was his birthday recently and I was reminded of his writing and wanted to share!
